Whether it’s sending him on his way with his buddies or spending the day with him and the kids, there are plenty of things to do in Goleta to make his Father’s Day 2022 special. Often referred as ‘The Good Land,’ the ultra-laid-back, no-fuss vibe of Goleta offers plenty of adventure with its wide-open spaces, untouched coastline, bucolic farms, and more. As one of California’s most inviting and authentic beach towns, Goleta is beyond fun, with amusement and views around every corner. So much so, that this hidden enclave just might very well be one of the Golden State’s best-kept secrets.

Goleta offers miles of ocean coastline as well as annual festivals and celebrations – including the Goleta Lemon Festival — making the area a haven for fun with the guys, from stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and surfing, to hiking and golfing on three highly rated golf courses. The food scene is vibrant, too, along with numerous farm stands and a wealth of craft breweries complementing Goleta’s wineries, bistros, cafes, and restaurants — all adding up to the perfect adventure for guy pals.

Adventures on Land and at Sea

Things to do in Goleta include 3 golf courses that seamlessly blend in with one of the most extraordinary land and seascapes in the country. Playing a round at any of the courses described below is easily on par (pun intended) with top golf destinations.

  • Glen Annie Golf Club
This championship golf course, with its first-class amenities, is situated in the rolling foothills of scenic Santa Barbara. The challenging golf layout is enhanced by breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands and is always maintained with the highest standards.
  • Sandpiper Golf Club
If your guy is looking for an inspiring combination of challenge and beauty, this championship golf course is the place. Located at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, Sandpiper offers breathtaking ocean and mountain views from every hole to create a truly memorable experience.
  • Rancho San Marcos Golf Course
This world-class course is spread over 300 beautiful acres, tucked away without a trace of urban development. The course offers stunning views of the Santa Ynez River Valley, distant furrowed peaks, and Lake Cachuma Rancho San Marcos.

And if traditional golf isn’t the gang’s game, then they can opt for a challenging game at Goleta’s top-notch disc golf course, Evergreen Disc Golf. The guys can also bond over bowling or billiards at Zodo’s Bowling & Beyond.

For an adventure on the water, treat him to Santa Barbara Adventure Company’s  Gaviota Coast guided coastal kayaking excursion that starts at Refugio State Beach. There are 33 scenic trails in the Goleta area for hiking and biking and other outdoor activities. The guys would also appreciate a tour of Good Land Organics, the innovative farm that’s pioneering coffee growing in North America.

Where to Eat (and Drink)

Goleta’s restaurant menu options cater to every palette. That’s not so surprising when you consider the town’s prime location, where the Santa Barbara Channel makes it easy for local restaurants to serve up sustainably sourced seafood, and the area’s miles of ranchland sprawling through the nearby hills provide a wide variety of fresh meat and poultry. Then there’s the thriving craft brewery scene which complements Santa Barbara County’s world-class wine that can be found abundantly throughout the region.

Places to Stay

Even if you don’t live in Goleta, you should know the town offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere to visitors, starting with its world-class accommodations. Dads who are serious golfers will appreciate staying a night or two at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara located adjacent to the sought-after Sandpiper Golf Club. For dads that are a bit more hip and trendy, The Leta Hotel is a perfect choice. Or perhaps the guy in your life is a brand loyalist and would appreciate racking up points (or using the ones they have) at the Residence Inn by Marriott Santa Barbara Goleta or the Hilton Garden Inn.

I’ve only touched the surface on what makes Goleta ‘The Good Land,’ and such a perfect destination for the ultimate guy’s getaway. What better way to say you appreciate him on Father’s Day than to treat him to a special weekend with his friends? Or pick from the list above and join him for fun on the big day itself, June 19.

Who knows, after spending time there, Dad might just want to move the family to Goleta. If that’s the case, then please call me at (805) 886-9378 or email me at I’m a valuable resource for those looking to move in Goleta, Montecito, Hope Ranch, or any of Santa Barbara’s upscale communities.
