Residents and visitors alike are invited to dine in paradise. Relax in what can only be referred to as exquisite locations: some by the ocean and others surrounded by the glistening hills of the American Riviera. Enjoy a meal like no other. You can even take a trip to Santa Barbara Wine Country without leaving town. No matter which restaurants you choose to eat at, this is your chance to explore the burgeoning culinary scene in Santa Barbara.

Next Generation Chefs

Once your belly is full, you can digest with the knowledge that proceeds from the event will go to a good cause, This year’s local event will benefit the California Restaurant Association Foundation’s ProStart® program.

Developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, ProStart is a two-year culinary arts and hospitality management program that reaches more than 9,000 students at 127 public high schools in California. With a curriculum aimed at empowering tomorrow’s culinary leaders, the ProStart program perfectly aligns with the vision of the Santa Barbara Restaurant Week founders and the mission of this annual celebration.  In short, ProStart® truly changes lives through hands-on restaurant experience.

The Birth of a Tasty Tradition

Restaurant Week started as a New York City tradition. Fast forward to today, and it has grabbed international fame. But how? Originally, it began as an annual week-long dining experience featuring a listing of NYC restaurants offering a pre-determined menu at a matching price-point for each participating location. It was such a success in the first year that it became a 4-week foodie phenomenon.

Today, there are many Restaurant Weeks that happen all around the world, but I think the best one is right here. With more than 450 restaurants in Santa Barbara, the American Rivera seemed like a logical Restaurant Week event location. It was and is, and you can take advantage of all the good food you can eat! You’ll get to feast at the restaurants you’ve been dreaming of eating at but haven’t had the chance to yet. Who knows? Perhaps one of these establishments will become your new favorite.
