Santa Barbara Wine Country in 805 Living Magazine: The Food & Wine Issue

Close up portrait of Couple enjoying and drinking wine at tasting to illustrate Santa Barbara Wine CountryWhen Santa Barbara Wine Country is mentioned, chances are the Santa Ynez Valley communities of Ballard, Los Olivos, Solvang, and Santa Ynez come to mind. But, how about Buellton? Known until recently primarily for its pea soup, the town has become an important player when it comes to winery tasting rooms.

Continuing the Media’s Love Affair With Santa Barbara Wine Country

Enter 805 Living — a high-end publication combining the quality and style of a top national magazine with smart, locally relevant editorial that captures the spirit and style of Santa Barbara and Montecito.  In celebration of California Wine Month, the magazine’s September Food & Wine issue features the tasting rooms in Buellton. (By the way, if you live here and don’t already read this regional lifestyle publication, I highly suggest you do. One peek at this issue and you’ll see why you should add this magazine to your reading list.)

Besides gaining wine wisdom from some of the top local sommeliers and information on the exclusive tasting rooms located on Industrial Way in Buellton, you’ll also find lots of interesting reads in the current issue on topics like interior design, local events, travel advice and dining guidance. One could say 805 Living is among the top local publications for active Santa Barbara and Montecito homeowners.

A Buellton Renaissance

Just up the coast or over San Marcos Pass from the city of Santa Barbara, Buellton has undergone a renaissance in the last few years. Besides wine tasting, the town is known as a place in Santa Barbara Wine Country to immerse yourself in nature. Hike, bike or horseback ride through stunning scenic trails, explore the budding botanic garden at River View Park, enjoy an up-close and personal experience with an ostrich or emu, or play a round at Zaca Creek Golf Course, located along the Santa Ynez River.

Getting There from Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara Wine CountryVia US 101 or State Route 154 (San Marcos Pass), take Route 246 heading west towards the nearby world-class vineyards of the Sta. Rita Hills. Industrial Way is your last left as you head out of Buellton. Traditionally the street has been a collection of service businesses, warehouses, winemaking, and light manufacturing. In recent years the introduction of wine tasting rooms, varied and creative dining options, a top-notch craft brewery/tap room, two distilleries, a sweet shop and more has turned this half-mile stretch into a hot spot destination for locals and visitors alike.
