Remain healthy and stay in harmony with nature through Ayurveda

Ayurveda-the science of life Even living here in beautiful sunny Santa Barbara, to remain healthy and stay in harmony with nature, experts highly recommended you make lifestyle and dietary adjustments in the winter.
The ancient Indian “science of life” called Ayurveda explains that human beings, like the Universe, are made up of each of the five elements: Air, Space, Fire, Water, Earth and the Soul. These elements, in their biological form, are known as Doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Every activity and function of our mind and body is dependent upon the balanced or unbalanced state of our doshas. Although everyone has all of the elements in their bodies, we are each born with a unique, individual balance of these doshas. So, no two of us are alike!
Take this test to find out your personal dosha. Once you find out your dosha, follow these guidelines in the winter months:
Vata is usually not comfortable in the cold months, unless they follow a nourishing vata reducing diet.  So the Vata more than any other dosha needs to follow their diet strictly during the winter months.
Pitta dosha is comfortable in the winter, but they still need to avoid hot spices, hot curries, chilies and too much garlic. The cold air of winter makes the Pitta stay cool both emotionally and physically.
For the Kapha person, winter is a difficult time to lose weight. The goal for the Kapha during the winter months is to not gain extra pounds and wait for spring to lose any extra weight.
No matter what your dosha, it is easy to remain healthy and stay in harmony with nature living here in beautiful Santa Barbara. If you are considering moving the Montecito or any of the upscale communities in Santa Barbara, please give me a call at 805.886.9378 or email me at
