Realtor.com surveyed more than 1,500 visitors to their site from March 17 to April 2 and found that 13% of consumers today are looking to buy a luxury home. Another 26% of potential home buyers are considering a high-end purchase. In fact, the report goes on to say that the most popular price point that potential home buyers in California are considering is $1 million+.
Experts say the reason this information is important is because luxury homes tend to drive trends throughout the entire balance of the marketplace. So what does that mean to sellers in and around Santa Barbara? Simply put, if you are planning on selling your luxury home here, pay attention to luxury amenities. Here’s a list of the most important features buyers are looking for in luxury homes:
- 54%: a chef’s kitchen
- 44%: ocean, mountain or cityscape views
- 38%: square footage
- 36%: an expansive master suite
The survey dug into the question of what prompts high-end buyers to search for a luxury home:
- 19%: recent career success
- 17%: newly retired
- 14%: for an investment
- 12%: to buy their first home
The survey also asked what the biggest challenges are when searching for a high-end luxury home:
- 40%: finding a property that meets their family’s needs
- 20%: limited number of properties offered
- 11%: properties with limited universal appeal
- 8%: access to mortgage loans.
- 11% would choose a modern home
