I just saw this list of 7 things homeowners should do once a year on PureWow, an online magazine that covers the breadth of women’s lifestyle: fashion, beauty, home, arts and culture, money, tech, food and travel. While we’ve covered this topic in the past, it’s always good to go over the list again.
Remember when you bought your house? You noted a million and ten things that needed to be done. Over the years, that list has somehow disappeared. But, it’s important to stay on top of your home maintenance to-dos by making sure you tackle each of the following once a year.
1) Have your gutters cleaned
Getting them cleaned now means you won’t have to think about them again until 2017. Doesn’t that sound good?
2) Make an appointment to steam clean your carpets
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that over time, buildup has a way of accumulating in your carpet. Get them steam cleaned at least once a year.
3) Hire someone to thoroughly wash your windows
Enjoy the spectacular Santa Barbara summer sunsets with clean windows!
4) Clean and empty all your drawers, including the kitchen junk drawer
Get rid of stuff you don’t use.
5) Get the professionals out to trim your trees
Your trees will thank you! So will your neighbors.
6) Schedule the exterminator
Don’t let those nasty bugs ruin your summer.
7) Check out an open house in the neighborhood
Stay current on what’s happening in real estate in your neighborhood.
