The California Avocado Festival® is California’s Largest FREE music festival
Don’t miss the California Avocado Festival taking place October 5 – 7 on Linden Avenue in Carpinteria. This is one of the largest FREE festivals in the entire state of California. Festival-goers will delight at the lineup this year featuring more than 80 musical acts on four stages, an exhibit tent featuring the history of avocados, numerous arts and craft vendors, and many delicious avocado-based dishes to enjoy. This year, the Honorary Chairs are Ed and Nadia Van Wingerden, a local couple who have built a life around family and agriculture.
Learn about the importance of the avocado to the Carpinteria Valley by visiting the official Expo Tent. The AvoEXPO TENT is home to Avocado agricultural photos, historical photos, lessons in avocado grafting, FFA restored antique tractors and the largest avocado contest.
Marvel and dig into the world’s largest vat of guacamole. Yum! There will also be plenty of avocado dishes in the festival’s food venue located on the 800 block of Linden Ave. Come hungry and enjoy some delicious avocado creations.
Instead of a beer garden this year, a designated section of the festival will be open for drinking. There, festival-goers will find the official beer of this year’s Festival. “Avo Ale,” was just released this week by Carpinteria’s Rincon Micro Brewery. The brewery plans to have more than 1,000 gallons of beer ready for the event, sold by the cup at 3 sites within the festival footprint. You can also taste the special adult beverage at the brewery located at 5065 Carpinteria Avenue where it’s sold by the pint glass in cool collector bottles. No bottles will be sold at the festival.
Brewer Chas Cloud says he modified the amber ale recipe to use the flavor of toasted avocado pits to complement select German malts. Co-owner Shaun Crowley says the beer is perfect for the early October weather in Carpinteria, which is usually in the upper 70’s in the festival zone, just a few blocks from the “World’s Safest Beach.”
There will be free doggie daycare. Last year, over 100 dogs were kept happy, cool, and entertained while their owners enjoyed the festival. And once again, the Festival producers hope to reach their goal of zero waste.
