3 design books that make the perfect holiday gift!

I love to give my friends and family inspirational gifts and have found that design books are the perfect thing to wrap up for just about anyone on my list. Here’s a list of three of my favorites:
Jean-Louis Deniot Interiorsdesign book
Rizzoli, $65
Anyone who is into 30’s grandeur will love the updated classical approach of Jean-Louis Deniot, seen by many as the heir to Art Deco greats. Think “theatrical” rooms without the clutter, like a beautifully draped canopy to add drama to a small bedroom. Or using roman shades and curtains in bathrooms and understated wall finishes to provide “instant poetry” to any room.

Collected: Living With the Things You Lovedesign book

Abrams, $40
Your Flea Market friend will appreciate this book, which offers the collector thoughtful advice on how to elegantly showcase all the mismatched “stuff” they’ve acquired over the years. Show them how to make the most of their obsessions, whether pretty Pyrex storage containers (“still found on eBay for a song”) or knitting needles (“collecting by color transforms the mundane into the magical”).
Novel Interiors: Living in Enchanted Rooms Inspired by Literaturedesign book
Potter Style, $35
Conversational, illuminating and full of practical tips for discovering your own design style, this easy-to-digest book offers richly detailed descriptions of interiors found in more than 60 novels, from Jane Austen’s “Emma” to Dodie Smith’s “I Capture the Castle.” This book is the perfect gift for the literary member of the family.
